Decision Analysis Training

Development of Organizational Capabilities; we provide standard or customized training and workshop classes, advisory services related to coaching and mentoring, and ad-hoc decision support guidance for individuals or groups. We also take pride in our effort to implement sustainable decision-making cultures in organizations.

Examples of our standard training classes:

DECISION ANALYSIS OVERVIEW 1-DAY

This class is intended to give you a high-level overview of what Decision Analysis (DA) is, how it can help you and your decision-makers to make better decisions. We will touch upon the DA frameworks, tools, techniques and best practices used for efficient decision-making. Elements we will cover includes: the concept of Decision Quality, framing and structuring, deterministic and probabilistic analysis, evaluation and alternative selection. The class is a mix of presentation and hands-on case studies and is suitable for analysts, decision-makers, project team and leaders, controllers, etc. Please note that this is an overview class.

FRAMING & FACILITATION 3-DAYS

This class will equip you with a framework, tools and practices for efficient framing and structuring of business problems and opportunities. You will get hands-on practice using these elements through several business cases studies that can be applied in your business. A solid problem/opportunity-frame is essential for structuring your analysis and for providing valuable insights to your decision makers. Secondly, the class will provide you with a good understanding of how to facilitate meetings, workshops, and framing meetings. The class will give you an opportunity to practice facilitation techniques that are used to utilize the strength of your team.

DECISION ANALYSIS – MODELLING AND EVALUATION 3-DAYS

This is an intensive introduction class that will take you through many of the elements of Decision Analysis (DA). The class is a hands-on computer based class which will cover DA elements such as: framing and structuring, deterministic decision modelling under risk and uncertainty, probabilistic modelling, evaluation and insights, and communication of result to management. The class will briefly also cover more complex analytics such as Value of Information (VOI) analysis. The expectation after the class is that you know how to frame and structure problems, understand how value focused thinking can be applied to business problems/opportunities, capable to identify key value drivers, understand deterministic and probabilistic modelling, and that you understand how to draw insights from analysis and make these insights presentable to management and decision makers.

DECISION ANALYSIS – MODELLING AND EVALUATION 5-DAYS

This is an intensive intermediate class that will take you through many of the elements of Decision Analysis (DA). The class is a hands-on computer based class which will cover DA elements such as: framing and structuring, deterministic decision modelling under risk and uncertainty, probabilistic modelling, evaluation such as Value of Information and Value of Control, insights, and communication of result to management. The class is a mix of presentations and hands-on case studies. Much time will be dedicated to structuring business problems, decision modelling and evaluation under risk and uncertainty.

The expectation after the class is that you know how to frame and structure problems, understand how value focused thinking can be applied to business problems/opportunities, capable to identify key value drivers, understand deterministic and probabilistic modelling inclusive of Value of Information studies, and that you understand how to draw insights from analysis and make these insights presentable to management and decision makers.
